4/19/12 Journal

Today I continued to read "Death of a Salesman" by Arthur Miller. I am still toward the beginning of Act 1, and at this point of the play Willy is complaining about his son, Biff. He calls him a "lazy bum" and "lost". He also says that he is such a hard worker and that he has such personal attractiveness. He tells his wife that when he sees him in the morning, he will have a nice talk with him and talk him into getting a job. When we are introduced to Happy and Biff, Happy is very concerned about his father. He thinks that he is losing it because of his clumsiness.Happy asks Biff if he is still mad at his father, and even though he doesn't openly say it, he doesn't seem to happy with him.
