3/8/12 Journal

Today I continued reading A Streetcar Named Desire. At this point in the play, Stella and Blanche come back from the show they were at. Stanley is playing poker with a friends, including a man named Mitch, who seems to be interested in Blanche. Blanche says that he seems superior to the other friends. Stella tells Blanche that his mother is sick, and that he is not married. He is on the precision bench in the spare parts department and the plant Stanley travels for.

3/7/12 Participation

I couldn't do any tech work in class. However, I didn't waste class just sitting there. I made two outlines for virals that I hope I get the chance to film within the next week. The first one was for Marjorie's play Fly.  In the video, Scarlet and Ashley's characters are sitting on the stage coloring. You can tell there is tension between them. They both lean over as if they are about to kiss, and as they get close the screen goes black. The second was for the play Retreat. The whole video would be in slow motion. Ashley and Sebastian's characters are yelling at each other while Brittany's character is crying in the background. All of the sudden, Marjorie's character runs in and smashes the XBOX (or Wii).

3/7/12 Journal

Yesterday, I continued reading the play A Streetcar Named Desire. At this point of the play, Blanche is getting ready to go out and Stanley is still questioning her. Blanche is trying to get a compliment out of Stanley, but he reveals that he never compliments women about their looks. After this conversation, Blanche sends Stella out to get her a coke, so her and Stanley can finish talking. Stanley brings up the Napoleonic code and admits that he thinks Blanche is lying. Blanche says that she is not lying to them and that the papers are in her trunk.

Today was supposed to be our history day. Instead, we did teching for Mainstage. It's crunch time right now, which means our schedule will revolve around whatever needs to be done for the show. In the beginning of class, we looked for 1/4 pieces of wood for the set, but we didn't have much luck. After that, we went and organized the trailers outside. Today I really realized how weak I am when it comes to lifting. I tried the best that I could to help where ever it was needed, but when I did I admit that I did struggle a little bit. Hopefully while teching more, I will build up some more strength.

3/6/12 Journal

Today I continued reading Act 2 of A Streetcar Named Desire.  Stanley begins to question the whole situation about Blanche losing the country place they owned. Stella does not want to talk about it because she is afraid it will upset Blanche. Stanley wants to know more details about it because he has not seen any papers, and Stella hasn't mentioned anything about how it was lost and if anyone else owns it now. Stanley brings up the Napoleonic Code, and how he thinks they have been swindled under it. He says that Blanche seems to be doing too well for herself not to have any money left from the property.

Today was supposed to be our major day, but when we got to class we found out that we were going to work on Mainstage for the day. In the beginning of the class, we had to look for the Sony camera charger, because we just found out today that it has been missing for a while. Even though i'm almost positive it was put away the last time I filmed my teaser, I still feel like it is partly my responsibility to find it because I do use the camera a lot. After we realized it was no where to be found in the classroom or the black box, we started working on Mainstage. I was running around for a little while finding blueprints for the set. After I got those to the theater, Imani, Zari, and I cleaned the sound loft. We organized the wires and some of the dance costumes that were all over the place.

3/1/12 Journal

In the part of A Streetcar Named Desire that I read today (The end of scene 1),  Stanley meets Blanche for the first time. Stanley admits that he didn't know Blanche was coming to visit, but he doesn't seem to mind. If anything, it almost seemed as if he was flirting with her. In the beginning of Scene 2, Stella tells Stanley to be nice to Blanche, which doesn't seem like it will be difficult for him. We also find out that Stella is pregnant, but doesn't want Blanche to know. She says she will tell her when she starts to feel better, because she has been crying a lot since she lost Belle Reve.
